I. MANDATE

The Academic and Operations Committee (AOC) is the organizational operational group at Michener.

II. PURPOSE

The Academic and Operations Committee (AOC) reports to the Executive Committee (EC) and its primary functions are to action Michener’s strategic goals applying innovation, collaboration and a future focused sustainable framework as follow:

  1. to implement Michener’s strategic plans and goals, and to monitor progress towards those goals.
  2. to review and inform Michener policies for approval at the Executive Committee

III. MEMBERSHIP

Members:

  • Vice-Principal, Academic and Operations (Chair)
  • Associate Vice-Principal, Academic (Vice-Chair)
  • Senior Operational and Academic Leaders

Guests are invited to attend as necessary and by invitation to inform the AOC discussions and operational decisions.

IV. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Members bring time, talent, special skills and perspectives to the AOC.   Members are expected to:

  • Prepare in advance for meetings by pre-reading material to be discussed
  • Actively participate, advise, and make decisions or recommendations supporting the mandate of the AOC

    V. DECISION MAKING PROCESS/VOTING

    Discussion/consensus*

    *In the absence of consensus, decisions and approvals are the responsibility of the Chair and Vice-Chair

    VI. MEETING FREQUENCY

    Monthly. Action and decision minutes are kept.

    VII. ACCESS TO MEETINGS

    Partially open, e.g. dependent upon topic

    VIII. DESIRED OUTCOMES

    • AOC ensures implementation of Michener’s strategic plans and goals, and monitors progress towards those goals
