I. MANDATE

The Executive Committee (EC) is the senior planning, decision-making and accountability body at Michener.

II. PURPOSE

The Executive Committee (EC) primary functions are:

  1. to develop Michener’s strategic plans and goals, and to monitor progress towards those goals.
  2. to approve key Michener policies based on advice from the Academic and Operations Committee and other informed individuals.
  3. to review and endorse documents going to the Michener Board of Governors for approval.

    III. MEMBERSHIP

    Members:

    • Principal (Chair)
    • Vice-Principal, Academic and Operations (Vice-Chair)
    • Associate Vice-Principal, Academic
    • Director, Finance
    • Director, People Consultants
    • Strategic Advisor, Academic Business Development
    • Strategic Advisor, Communications & Marketing

    Guests are invited to attend as necessary and by invitation to inform Executive Committee discussions and decisions.

    IV. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Members bring time, talent, special skills and perspectives to the EC.   Members are expected to:

    • Prepare in advance for meetings by pre-reading material to be discussed
    • Actively participate, advise, and make decisions or recommendations supporting the mandate of the EC

      V. DECISION MAKING PROCESS/VOTING

      Discussion/consensus*

      *In the absence of consensus, decisions and approvals are the responsibility of the Chair and Vice-Chair

      VI. MEETING FREQUENCY

      Weekly. Action and decision minutes are kept.

      VII. ACCESS TO MEETINGS

      Partially open, e.g. dependent upon topic

      VIII. DESIRED OUTCOMES

      • EC develops Michener’s strategic plans and goals, and monitors progress towards those goals.
