This policy applies to all full-time and part-time students in all programs in all settings.
The purpose of this policy is to outline the processes surrounding official student transcripts at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN (“Michener”).
Michener’s Registrar’s Office maintains official transcripts documenting the academic history of all students. these records are held in perpetuity and official transcripts are available from records and registration in Registrar’s Office upon receipt of written request from the student and payment. Transcript fees (including courier fees, if applicable) are posted on the Registrar’s Office website.
Due to safety features of the transcript paper, transcripts cannot be sent via fax, or scanned and sent as pdf or any other type of electronic attachment. Transcripts issued by Michener will be sent by mail or be available for pick-up from the Registrar’s Office. Students with active applications to post-secondary institutions in the province of Ontario may request transcripts on the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) or through the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) and these transcripts are issued electronically.
Transcripts are not issued to students who have outstanding tuition or other fees or other liabilities owing to Michener; including fines owed to the Learning Resource Centre or other departments, or who have not returned Michener loaned equipment or resources.
Transcripts will not be issued to a third party without the written authorization of the student. A transcript is a confidential document.
The Registrar’s Office cannot release high school transcripts and other confidential documents previously submitted to Michener. Students must contact the institution that originally awarded the document.
For students who have completed both full-time program of study and select CE courses, all courses undertaken will appear on the transcript. However, non-evaluated workshops and seminars completed through the Continuing Education department at Michener will not appear on the academic transcript. Students who attend and complete these activities will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
