Organizational Scope
The Policy applies to all full-time and part-time students enrolled in programs* offered in The Michener Institute of Education at UHN (“Michener”).
*Students in joint programs must refer to their program handbook.
Purpose
This policy identifies authority for approval of tuition and student fees in programs offered in Michener and provides guidelines for tuition and student fee payment deadlines and refunds.
Definitions
Program – is a series of required courses, called a model route that leads to a Master’s Degree, an Advanced Diploma, or a Graduate Certificate.
Policy
The Board of Governor’s is responsible for approving Tuition and Student Fees annually. Such fees will be posted annually on Michener’s website.

Students Enrolled in Less than Full-Time Studies
Students in full-time programs who return to study on a part-time basis will have their fees prorated based on the credit value of their part-time studies.
Audit Students
Students who enroll as Audit Students are required to pay full tuition (prorated for less than full-time studies) and applicable student fees.
International Student Fees
International tuition fees and the associated student fees are determined at the time of the application deadline.
International students who become permanent residents of Canada, citizens of Canada or Convention Refugees accepted by the Government of Canada (Protected Persons) are eligible to apply for domestic fees after they have completed semester 2. Students must present original documentation to the Registrar’s Office for review.

Payment Methods
Students may pay Tuition and Ancillary Fees by:
- Cash – in-person only;
- Debit – in-person only;
- Credit Card (a 2.5% charge will be added for this payment method) – Visa, MC, AMEX (in-person, by telephone or on Self-Service);
- Online Banking through Bank with “The Michener Institute” as Payee and Student ID as Account Number; or
- Certified Cheque or Money Order (personal cheques not accepted).
