POSITION TITLE: IMAGING INFORMATICS SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL IMAGING & CARDIOLOGY

WAGE RATE: $42.24 – $53.28

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Imaging Informatics Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day systems maintenance including troubleshooting, user training, inventory maintenance, quality management, and project support of the PACS/Voice Dictation systems for Brightshores Health System and Hanover District Hospital. The Imaging Informatics Specialist is responsible for maintaining PACS, Voice Dictation and Oracle (Cerner) system knowledge to manage all mission critical systems in the absence of the PACS Administrator.

PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) or EIM, (electronic image management) is a complex network of integrated devices and software. Technical and process integration of networked acquisition devices (diagnostic modalities), archive systems, data gateways, diagnostic workstations, clinical workstations, and multiple input/output devices connect image and report information from the providers in Medical Imaging and Cardiology to the hospital information system infrastructure for data sharing inside and outside the enterprise.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

  • Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Information Technology/ IT Management, and/or Network Analyst or other relevant field
  • Completion of an Imaging Informatics Graduate Certificate Program, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years relevant healthcare experience
    Demonstrated strong knowledge of Medical Imaging and Cardiology modalities, equipment, and other imaging devices
  • Strong knowledge of DICOM and proficiency in basic networking
  • Thorough understanding of a working clinical medical imaging environment and troubleshooting problems
  • HL7 experience
  • Solid understanding of desktop operating systems software (Windows, and the MS Office suite of products)
  • Data analysis skills and experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a group environment
  • Required collaboration with Information Technology Department for corporate services (desktop, servers, networking, and VPN remote access support)
  • Excellent interpersonal, multitasking and communication skills
  • Must have good teamwork and customer service skills and to be able to work with a diverse group of people
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and use of vehicle to travel to Brightshores’ and Hanover sites
  • Demonstrated ability in the following competencies: initiative & self-management, problem solving and accountability

  • Required to attend and participate in staff and site meetings
