About the Program

The Community Health and Social Medicine Care Worker certificate program is designed specifically for Ontario health and social service care workers who bridge the gap between hospitals, public health, and community settings. This unique certificate program gives community health workers the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in diverse care environments.
The program is in response to the growing need for more community advocacy and better access to care, particularly for underserved populations.

Ideal candidates for this program will meet the following criteria:
• Currently working or volunteering in a community-facing care role
• Trusted by and rooted in the community they serve
• Committed to equity, advocacy and improving access to care
• Ready to benefit from formal credentialing to support career aspirations

With generous support from Emanuelle Gattuso and the United Way, a tuition bursary is provided for the first cohort of 25 students, helping to remove financial barriers.

Michener is working with community and social service organizations on a nomination process. For more information about the Community Health and Social Medicine Care Worker certificate program, please email CHASM@michener.ca
