About the Course
This 16-week hybrid course assists internationally educated medical laboratory technologists to prepare for the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) national licensing examination in Canada. The program will consist of weekly synchronous sessions, online content, including the three mandatory weekend onsite sessions at The Michener Institute, over three weekends for simulated lab experience (mandatory/required).
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and adhere to the principles and practices of safety and infection control in the laboratory.
- Adhere to the correct procedure for specimen collection, suitability, handling, and transportation.
- Prepare and stain clinical specimens for testing.
- Methodically analyze and interpret results of Pap testing.
- Accurately document and report the results of the analysis of the clinical specimens.
- Practice and promote the principles of quality management.
- Practice and promote professionalism.
