About the Course
The Mental Health Nursing Certificate Program focuses on the foundations of nursing care for patients with mental health conditions. This 12-week course is intended for nurses who plan to write the CNA exam for mental health nursing and those who want to deepen their understanding of best practices providing mental health nursing care.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate therapeutic communication with patients
- Complete a suicide risk assessment and a mental health status assessment for a patient
- Explain the symptoms and treatment for patients at risk of suicide and/or with mental health conditions
- Apply best practices in healthcare to nursing care plan for patients at risk of suicide and/or with mental health conditions
- Recognize personal/societal biases and misconceptions about mental health conditions that affect patient well-being when they come up in patient-care conversations
