Important information for second birth attendants – The College of Midwives of Ontario has developed new standards related to second birth attendants.
In order to receive a Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) NRP Provider card (proof of completion), second birth attendants must, like all NRP workshop participants, meet the following eligibility requirements:

- Be a student of a licensed or registered health profession; AND
- Be expected, as part of their professional scope of practice, to participate in newborn resuscitation
NOTE: As per the CPS, the following criteria will apply:

- Experienced Provider: Currently provide newborn resuscitation as part of your clinical responsibilities on a regular and on-going basis.
This course is also available by contract for on-site delivery. Please email ce@michener.ca for information.

- These credits apply to all NRP training, including Provider courses and Instructor training/updates.
- Nurses: In Canada, nurses can log their course time as part of their provincial regulatory body’s continuing competency requirements
- Midwives: In Canada, midwives can log their course time as part of their provincial regulatory body’s continuing competency requirements
