About the Course
In today’s evolving healthcare landscape, strategic planning is essential to delivering effective, patient-centered care that meets the needs of the communities. This course equips new and emerging healthcare leaders with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement strategic plans that respond to system-level challenges and community needs. Learners will explore the characteristics of the healthcare environment, with a focus on Ontario’s healthcare system, its providers, and the complexities that shape decision-making. Through interactive learning and practical application, learners will gain an understanding of strategic plan fundamentals, including mission, vision, values, strategic choices, and success measures. The course also emphasizes the importance of aligning strategy across all levels of an organization, embedding strategic choices into everyday practice, and continuously refining strategy in response to environmental factors. By the end of the course, learners will be able to analysis strategic plans and support the development and delivery of strategic plans.
This is a required course for the Certificate in Clinical Leadership and Management program.
Course Format
This course includes instructor-led interactive Zoom sessions once a week, as well as weekly modules on the MichBrite Learning Management System.
