Residence Application Form

THE RESIDENCE ADVANTAGE

Residence life at The Michener Institute is fun, safe and convenient. There are many benefits to choosing residence accommodation at Schatz Hall. You immediately have a network of classmates with whom to work on assignments or study; you are in the same building as your classes, library and labs and you are within walking distance to the downtown amenities. Furthermore, you are not locked into a 12-month lease which is customary for most rental apartments and houses in the city.

At Michener our residence population tends to be a mature group of students (more closely related to grad housing) that values both a quality residence experience and education. Schatz Hall is organized to help you achieve your education in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment. We believe that residence is much more than simply a place to live: it’s also an opportunity to experience a diverse community that supports personal and academic success.

Residence life provides a terrific opportunity to meet peers, form study groups and create connections with students from all of Michener’s programs. Each floor has a Residence Don (an upper year Michener student) that lives on each floor and assists with all aspects of residence life to make your time with us the best experience possible!

COST

Residence fees are listed on the residence application form for the academic year and are payable in advance. Payment can be made in full or in two installments subject to a $25 deferred payment fee. Payment in full or the first installment is due by August 15th, and the second installment due by February 1st.

ASSIGNMENT OF ROOMS

Priority is to first year Michener students who meet the residence application deadline (June 15th) and distance from The Michener Institute (greater than 100km). A lottery system will be used if there are more qualified applicants than spaces available. We accept second and third year Michener student applications that will be asessed and assigned spaces after qualified year 1 students are placed.

CHANGE OF MIND? NEED TO CANCEL?

If you have received an offer of residence but no longer require it, written (or email) notification of cancellation is required one month prior to your check-in date, failure to do so will result in being charged the first month’s rent.

AFTER CHECK-IN

A withdrawal before the expiration of your Residence Agreement (sent to you with your offer of a residence room) requires written or emailed notification. You will be responsible for all fees for the duration of your Residence Agreement until we are able to fill your spot.
