Learner Outcomes

This course is designed for health care professionals or other individuals who require a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding of the complexities of the human body. The anatomy and physiology of the human body is viewed as an integrated relationship of structures and functions. The unifying themes throughout the course reflect the concepts of the human body not as an assemblage of isolated parts, but as an integrated system that works together to maintain homeostasis. The course modules group information into related anatomy and physiology subsections using a variety of learning resources. Using a recommended textbook and other resources, learners work through learning objectives, required readings, medical terminology, self-quizzes and critical thinking questions, overview PowerPoint presentations and study outlines. To check your learning, a graded quiz is completed online at intervals in the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, the Learner will be able to:

  1. Identify the main structures and describe the main functions of each of the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive.
  2. Identify the interaction of these systems to maintain homeostasis within the human body.

Evaluation Method

Online quizzes and final online exam
