Learner Outcomes

With modules on ageing in community, communication, mobility & accessibility, and recognizing & responding to unique needs of older adults, this course will provide a more in-depth review of the challenges currently facing the older community and they ways in which we, as community partners can better support the ageing population.

Upon successful completion of the course, the Learner will be able to:

  • Recognize the social, economic, physiological, and environmental factors that impact healthy ageing in Canada
  • Select strategies to promote more effective communication and safer physical environments for older adults
  • Identify ways Relational Care can improve relationships and outcomes when working with older adults
  • Recognize the unique challenges of older adults living in the community and strategies to mitigate them
  • Identify causes, signs, and preventative measures of common physical and mental conditions that negatively impact older adults’ quality of life, including medical emergencies

Intended For

This course is intended for any organization looking to enhance their staff’s approach to working with older adults and for those who care for older adults in a variety of capacities.
