Please note course will proceed if sufficient enrolment minimum 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled date.

This course is suited for Physicians, registered nurses, registered midwives and registered respiratory therapists who may be required to resuscitate newborn babies.  Other health professionals approved by their Provincial NRP Committee may be eligible.

This course is available for on site delivery. Please email ce@michener.ca for information.

Physicians: NRP is approved for Mainpro-C credits (College of Family Physicians of Canada) and Maintenance of Certification Section 2 credits (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada). NRP course participants can claim credits for every educational hour.

These credits apply to all NRP training, including Provider courses and Instructor training/updates.

Nurses: In Canada, nurses can log their course time as part of their provincial regulatory body’s continuing competency requirements.

Midwives: In Canada, midwives can log their course time as part of their provincial regulatory body’s continuing competency requirements.

RRTs: The individual regulatory bodies determine what qualifies for credits according to their program. The Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists allocates 1 credit per educational hour.

The NRP course and online exam is approved for continuing professional education and development credits.

Certificate Program

Following successful completion of the course, you must successfully ‘team teach’ an NRP Provider Course supervised by an NRP Instructor Trainer in order to obtain official NRP Instructor status. You are responsible for instructor registration fees with the Canadian Pediatric Society.

Prerequisites

Application Procedure:

1. Register for application assessment ($50 non refundable)
2. Submit the required documents.
3. You will be notified by email if your application has been accepted.
4. Instructions will be provided for payment of the NRP Instructor Course fee  of $289.

Documents to be submitted:

1. Current resume with cover letter outlining  experience in neonatal care.
2. Sponsorship letter from institution that provides NRP courses.
3. Copy of credentials (Physicians,registered nurses,registered midwives and registered respiratory therapists).
4. Copy of current NRP provider card showing Advanced Certification (ch.1-11 and advanced mega codes) issued within 24 months.
5. Successful completion of the NRP 7th Edition online exam. The exam can be found at: online NRP exam.
6. Submit the above documentation to ce@michener.ca or fax 416-596-1207 attention Primary and Critical Care.

Successful applicants will be contacted with instructions to pay NRP Instructor Course fee $289.Payment is due within 1 week of notification.

COVID Vaccine Requirement:

Proof of full vaccination (2 doses) for all learners is required for all onsite attendance at Michener.
Fully online courses do not require proof of vaccination.
